Advantages and Disadvantages of Bus Topology

Advantages and Disadvantages of Bus Topology, what is bus topology Advantages and Disadvantages of Bus Topology

Simply bus topology is known as linear topology. It consists of computer that are attached to a common cable called a bus or trunk which is also known as the backbone of the network.

Bus topology is the one of the simplest network topology. In this topology, all the node or computers are connected to the single cable which is called bus.

Advantages of Bus Topology

  1. It is simple, reliable and easy to use.
  2. It is easy to extend any number of computers can be added using connector in bus topology.
  3. Since it uses co-axial cable for networking and data sharing.
  4. It is less expensive than other arrangement
  5. It is flexible and scalable.

Disadvantages of Bus Topology

  1. If the cable fails, then the entire system fails to respond to the user.
  2. Since the cable is one, fault finding and troubleshooting becomes very difficult.
  3. Data traffic is high.
  4. Data collision is high.
